How to share Christ with a coworker interested in God
How to share Christ with a coworker interested in God
Not religious at all. Living in the world but have had thoughts about God. Wants to start researching God but still living the way they are because obviously they have no idea what God is about and all the things that entail. But they don’t know what to do or where to start? Should they just start reading the Bible?
Any tips and advice
A: After going thru the below...
1. Take them out to lunch.
2. Verbally Prayer over the meal.
3. During lunch ask if they are a believer or seeker. (Its not normally a Q I would ask but it's one that would easily slide into them asking questions, since your already aware).
4. Be prepared for giving answers, (and for many, at least have a resource you can point them to. See #7).
5. Be prepared to share the Gospel with them. (NeedGod.com)
6. Action plan: Ask them out for coffee (at first), or a casual dinner at your home, so you can answer other Christian questions (longer time to talk). Consider asking the Pastor, outreach leader, &/or a solid believer over to help you with answers.
7. Offer resources for them to examine as they continue to look into it or start growing as a new believer.
8. Let them know your happy to chat with them after work anytime about Christianity. *Offer your phone number or create a group chat with them, you (and maybe add a solid believer or 2 from church).
9. Offer to take them to church or invite them to join you there on Sunday.
10. Stay in touch with them.
11. Avoid initiating culture and progressive topics around them unless they're at the point of growing in the Faith where they want to understand it by God in Scripture in righteousness. Def avoid that topic if they aren't saved, as it will only divide, since they aren't born again, having new and right desires to accept Truth. If they push about it just say, "I see things from a Christian perspective that some might not understand. Jesus wanted to focus on eternal matters and pointed out there were earthly things his hearers couldnt comprehend", or "Like Paul, my mindset is to focus on Christ, which right now means helping you get closer to God and salvation, so temporary earthly matters are not important right now, as we may nor be here tomorrow". Something like that to redirect and cut that off. If they persist tell them your happy to discuss further after work maybe over dessert [at your home believer]. And keep it focused on Biblical truth. But use that meeting to swing to the Gospel too redirect to eternal matters.
12. If theyre open to reading the Bible, gift this to them. And: put an inscription inside. Include the website gty.org for deeper look into what is taught in Scripture via sermon series' book by book. And a note to encourage them to read Genesis 1-11, John & Romans, the NT and then entire Bible.
Or open to do Bible study with you, to meet up, you can take them through basic foundational courses, and then read Genesis 1-11, John & Romans together. If you do the study, I recommend you have another godly mature believer whose biblically knowledgeable from Church to come to these informal meet-ups - to help with questions. Of course, always same gender as you and for safety. If the person is a man, have a godly married couple from church come instead, and let the man lead it.
Q: Overheard at work today & was wondering what you would tell this person…..

Note. Sinners; those trapped in their sin nature, can't change without God causing them to be born again. Until they have that spiritual life from God, they'll not be able to live in righteousness [which comes through Christ] in order to live right. So they can only go from one form of idolatry to another, including religiousness or morality minded. Neither of those transform a person. Only God can. Once saved, they'll have new and right desires, to conquer sin and live holy.
