Should we try to puff up our testimony & go on a testimony tour? Guidance on testimonies & usage

Testimony guidance

Q: How do I go about giving my testimony? As in I want to preach it to the church or even people. I’m not talking about the 5-10 minute run down. How would I go about even setting one up?

I believe I have a very powerful testimony in my young life that can help others. I want to guide them to Christ.

In the past 10 months I’ve helped two people become believers and be active of their roles in Christ. That’s 2 more people compared to 10 months ago. I want to change lives, I want to guide people to Christ. I want to share my story because both God and me know how rocky my faith has been, we know the sins I have sinned. Our God is truly merciful and I want others to feel heard. I don’t want them to be alone because without him we are.

A: We share the Gospel with people, to focus on God. God told us the power of salvation is in the Gospel. A testimony done wrongly points sinfully to me me me. You don't want a 30 min testimony focusing on you. Even Paul as a mass murderer had a simple testimony. Every testimony is a miracle showing God's power, and equally important.

Our testimony is to point people to Christ, not go in depth of our former life of sin.

These can be a good guide for you...

As to sharing the Gospel, you can do it by tract, by convos using icebreaker or if theres a particular reason an unsaved person asks for your conversion story, or youre speaking at a event as a guest speaker for some reason.

You dont need to chase the limelight and put focus on yourself, nor start some multi church testimony tour for profit or attention. You just need to follow the pattern given in Scripture and go. We are commissioned to share the Gospel. Using a testimony is rare. You already started going out and trying to witness, just pursue it rightly, understand the shepherding and guidance of your church and its leaders.

To get equipped to share the Gospel these resources will help.

A possible way to share your testimony (3 min or less) is among Christians at your church, whom you are in study and fellowship groups with, to get to know each other.

Also, you could write your testimony, post on your personal Facebook wall, and post the link of it in groups & social media places. And or if your comfortable you could make video for youtube, make a QR code, and put that as a lil code sticker on the back of a tract, to hand out. Just make sure it doesnt cover anything on the tract.

God bless
