"Agree to disagree"
You can use this in a convo to start it, or to swing it where you want it to go if theyre pushing a unbiblical worldview on politics, religion or whatever topic has contention.
Have you ever heard "Agree to disagree"?
The phrase came from a disagreement Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield, two prominent Christians, had.
They didnt let personal disagreements cause problems.
And that good mindset lines up with Scripture
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God." 1 John 4:7
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud." 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
They were united in the Essentials, which are tied to the foundations of truth.
Do you know....
>>[you can say one or ask all 3]:
●What the Essential core truths if Christianity are?
●Did you know these Essentials are tied to the Gospel?
●Has anyone ever explained the Gospel clearly to you before?
✝️Lead convo from there into Law and Gospel discussion.
✝️In wrapping up your convo you could say this:
That "Agree to disagree" phrase came from a conversation of disagreement between Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield, two prominent Christians.
Christians will treat all people with respect and dignity, even when they disagree, because every person is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26–27) and has inherent worth. God’s goodness and grace extend to all humanity, providing a basis for compassion and moral common ground. Recognizing each individual as an image-bearer of God compels Christians to honor and respect others, regardless of differences in beliefs or values.
So whether its a discussion with you and me or believer to professing believer, we take into account where someone is in their faith journey, & even they may not understand things as well as older folk who have been of the Faith, so in this situation their agreement highlights the importance of unity and love in the face of differing perspectives. Their mutual respect allowed them to influence many lives without allowing their differences to cause division.
These men prioritized peace & the advancement of the gospel over personal disagreements.
With so many false churches and false converts out there it can seem confusing to outsiders. But between true Christians, since theyre united in the Essentials, they can show love and grace, leaving room for God to grow and educate them on other varied matters, and still be cordial to one another. This aligns with what we are called "to":
"If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone." Romans 12:18
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God." 1 John 4:7
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud."
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15
====
If this person comes to Christ, great. Depart with this blessing verse over them:
Romans 15:13: "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him."
If not: thank them for their time, and ask that they think about what we talked about.
If you gave them a good tract [designed well enough to keep] it will remind them, and can lead them to a website to go where God sends them; like the Ethiopian, so pray & leave them in God's care.

Believer, Remember......
✅️ Truth is, with cultural and worldview beliefs in US or West that clash with biblical Christianity, are rooted in unbelief and held by those unsaved & uninformed. So theyll never agree with you until saved, cuz theyre dead in their sins, and are children of wrath, until God converts them. Then.... they have been transformed, see and understand rightly, & can be educated on truth;biblical worldview, cuz theyre submitting to God, the Scriptures, and desire to live aligned with God's revealed truths.
That's why you just want to use things of the world as bait in convos and swing it right into a Gospel convo. Theyre not won to Christ in intellect areas; which focus on useless debates & arguments.
Be like Paul, whose focus was the Gospel:
"For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." 1 Corinthians 2:2
2 Timothy 1:7:
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
Isaiah 41:10:
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God."
Philippians 4:13:
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
