Help guiding my kids away from spouse's Buddhist religion

Q: My husband was just at a Buddhist meditation center, out of State, gone for 10 days. Since returning, I feel like he is a stranger to me. There is so much distance.

He has also told my 10 year old daughter he has plans to take her and my 6 year old son to a Buddhist temple. He wants them to learn "meditation".

My kids attend Christian church with me. My daughter doesn’t want to go to a temple, but I said if he makes her, she will “meditate” on Jesus and witness to everyone there πŸ˜‚ ✅️.

My 10 year old immediately told him, “I don’t want to go.” He then told her she has to and “it’s good to try something new.”

We have been married 16 years. I’ve been praying for him to come to the Lord for many years. I’m growing weary, but I still have hope. Gal 6:9 πŸ™

But in light of these recent events I’m feeling especially weary and in need of encouragement.

A: Prayers.

First, glad thats your daughter's view. You've been leading her to know truth, let's pray she holds to it.

Secondly, educate them on Buddhism & why it is false.

Thirdly, Tell him [& let the kids respond so to their dad on the topic too] that they already meditate... on God's Word. They renew their mind by the washing of the Word. They think on the truths God told us by Holy Scripture. [Explain that to the kids, encourage them to decline going]. He cant make them go & as the spiritual leader in the home [since hes not saved], you certianly can put your foot down on this issue.

His response isnt true. Hes not the spiritual leader of the home. You can firmly say no, stand up for her and your son cuz they need you on their side, Jesus would want you to.

Say "she chose Christianity and it was her choice". Then go thru these materials, to educate her. So he cant say she doesnt know about other religions. Go thru the nutshell book, the Essentials list, and the Gospel video (below). You can go thru these too on Witnessing to Buddhists, so she understands how to handle Gospel convos w them and why their works based/idolatry is wrong. So she speaks truth in love.

Since this is an issue in your home, you need to make sure to regularly review and teach the truths to the kids, so theyre not sucked in by demonic doctrine lies.

In fact, if possible, take your pastor, his wife, your kids on Sunday after church...and go to a Buddhist temple near you. Let your pastor educate them briefly "while walking around", and then go spend a lunch out talking about Jesus. That way you've already shown her, taught her, reviewed the material and no need for her to go with him. If the monks ask say you wanted to show the temple to the kids, and do a solo tour. They dont need to be with you as guides.

On the night before, let your parents come over and take the kids for the week/weekend. And in am tell him you had clearly told him they were not going to follow him into idolatry. Theyre already educated in what Buddhism teaches & dont need to go there. You wanted them to be aware of it, so they have been taught. [Then say, "Theyve already been to one on a field trip in June anyway"]. They dont want to go with you to one, and Jesus doesnt want them there. So they went to their Grans' cuz its where they wanted to be. [*Use the opp to educate him on Christianity, and share the Gospel with Him, even go thru the Buddhist videos with him too].

If he tries again & If that doesnt work, 🀷‍♀️😁 youve educated them well in Christianity & the error of Buddhism, long in advance.

Pack the kids Gospel tracts to hand out, and let them know "part of the Christian faith is to share the Gospel truth in love".

And set these rules with your husband, & tell while kids are present: the kids are not to let him confiscate the tracts, and that mom said he cant take them from them, nor try to trick or black mail you [the kids] into [him] not providing for them as always [food etc], nor manipulate them by offer treats or activities and saying they cant go or have them unless they do xyz that he wants them to do. And to flat out reject bowing to their idols & participating in that religions' activities, and not making offerings there. Also they must eat all their meals outside the temple, and not there. They can go to see the idol temple and thats it. No participation as it violates their fauth; no loving parent would violate their faith and force them into other religions activities.

*Explain these religious rituals of idolatry to the kids so they know it is Satanic rituals, and God is angry at idolatry, because only HE is God, there is no other. So they do not participate.

✝️Advocate for your kids, be their voice and protector. God placed them in your care.

I pray that if your kids go to that Satanic Temple, that it will just solidify their Christian faith more and more, & that the Lord would give them wise discernment of truth from lies. πŸ™

It is definitely good to educate them on pagan cultures and false religions , before πŸ‘‰ and again right after returning πŸ˜‰, so the truth of Christianity is what is in their minds.

Explain, it is sad he has chosen to reject the real Jesus, for now, and they can love their dad, but still reject the pagan idolatry he has chose to embrace. We will pray he comes to know the truth, so Jesus can set him free.

A goal with the kids is to explain "even if someone we love is in a false religion, we love them enough to tell them the truth, share the Gospel, and keep ministering to them, so one day the person will come to Jesus."

These can help you educate the kids, and use it also to witness to your husband.

Why Christianity:
Why is Christianity the only true religion?
Because Jesus died and rose from the dead. The evidence for that is clear from Scripture and outside sources. And if thats true, and it is, that means Jesus is God, the contents of Scripture is true, ...and it & Jesus himself tells us mans problem & how to have eternal life. (Go into the Gospel, good test here).

πŸ˜‰BTW, plan a trip to take them to Ark Encounter (and the place right next door). Take them to the Bible Museum too. This will put Christian visuals in their minds, and hopefully erase the pagan temples of Buddhism. Cuz now they too have a visual besides the Church they know.  Btw you can also share this below story, when they "return" from the Temple. Even show the video clip to them (at that brief segment. [It started out discussing false cults, which is good to include too]).

The story:
Less than a block away from Grace Church is a Buddhist temple. Many Christians from the church try to reach them to share the truth of Jesus. Pastor John MacArthur once referenced an encounter he and other church leaders had with Buddhist monks when they went there to reach them for Christ.

> “It is very easy for [false religions] to twist and manipulate a new believer … It’s the same thing with the Buddhist temple down the street. … In recent months, … we have … gone down there and talked to them and spent [time reaching them]— essentially Rick gave them the Gospel.” 😊

He mentions that some of the singing group from The Master’s College went to the temple to do a concert, and Rick (a staff pastor) preached the Gospel to the monks inside the temple.

And they were saying they wanted to come to the [Church] concert but there were certain limitations upon what they could do. They had to wear their orange robes. They kind of work in a collective kind of environment. And if they came here, they would have to come in that garb and they were under authority [of a head monk]. And as it turned out, they didn’t come."<

I would explain: What happened?
Why did the Buddhist monks not come to church? They were not allowed to. Because if they did go, they would learn the truth and leave Buddhism for Jesus & Christianity.

We know that the Buddhist monks cant think for themselves nor do things on their own, they are not allowed to, and have to do only what their ruler monk allows. They dont have freedom to leave the temple compound, nor go to the Church or Christian concert. That's not rightπŸ€”. Each person should be free to go where they want, and be open to listen to what they want to learn, esp in America. And since they cant engage us or hear the truth we have to go to them sometimes. That is what Missionaries do.

Q: If the kids ask, well if daddy heard of Jesus why didn't he become Christian?
A: Because people have missing pieces and things they dont understand, or they love their sins and not God, ... so they dont really realize what God is truly offering in Jesus gift. So until they do, we love on them, plant seeds of truth, that way God grows that truth in their hearts, and at the right time... they come to Jesus - and are born again πŸ˜€✨️✝️. Once saved they realize how wrong they were and regret all those wasted years being selfish and sinning. But since God made them a new person, they love Jesus and live godly lives, awaiting the day Jesus brings us to Heaven.

Fm “Bible Questions and Answers, Part 54”, not sure the timing for that snippet but you'll find it.

Here are other videos to play for the kids too (now and again in a few years when each is older, so they really understand this), in the Buddhism link too (theres reliability, investigate and related video helps; great for 12-15 year olds).

πŸ’₯Esp the one on how "other religions" altered their religion; adding a false Jesus to it, so the people dont leave their religion of lies and go to Jesus [truth], the real Jesus. Satan works hard to blind and decieve people, even people "close to us" whom we love. That particular truth you can share now, as part of your plan to educate before and after (if they go). This video shows all religions modified, mentioned or merged Jesus into it. Jesus... from Israel.

Plus, educate them daily in Christianity, starting now, specifically on the Essentials of the Faith & Gospel so they grow up learning the truth, and seeing the false religion their father is holding to "fails" and proves is a lie. So that they reject it & hold to truth of Christianity.

Gospel explained [all ages]

The "info" on Buddhism is pointed to Monks/Religious people at their Temple. It reveals a truth kids, preteen & teens can understand, while not outright saying its other followers or people who lightly hold a Buddhist belief like their father "cant ever come home". It is simply showing Christianity has freedom and truth, without going into a deep religious discussion w the kids, who cant understand. Just planting seeds that "theres Christians, and then theres others tricked by Satan into idolatry, no matter what other religion or beliefs someone holds. It is only 2 options in this world, either of Christianity or the Satanic system that blinds people. Those without Jesus as Savior will follow after various nonsense because they prefer lie to truth and love sin not God, the true God; YHWH." It is either salvation in Jesus or a false works based religion [incl self righteousness of athiests to think they reign on the throne of their life, but are simply Satan's puppets].

Later on as 13 year olds you can educate better on how cults, false churches & false religions like Roman Catholicism and Orthodox religions all masquerade as Christian, but fail the litmus test by what Scripture reveals is a true Christian and Church. [*That is why you taught them daily on the Essentials/Teachings of Christianity, so they can see red flags and false beliefs of false religions and false converts, and not be decieved by crafty subtle demonic lies.

You can further teach them on those cults and false religions with these books. Good to get now, review and study them, so you can educate the kids/Teens when it comes up, or once they turn 13, when you start teaching them this.

As to Gospel convos with your husband, once you go thru and know the earlier above info on the religion hes in, you'll be able to speak to him based on that info, to minister to lead him to Christ. No guarantee... just be faithful to God to do that work [always] , pray, and leave it with God. Pray he gets saved either soon, or at least before he dies [even if you die first]. And pray the same for your kids. Train them up in the Lord, [for now, it is best to do daily time in the Word, when he is not home, to prevent interference]. But if they reject Christ or leave the Church at 18, and live in sin in the world, minister, call them to true salvation and pursuing a holy life... and likewise pray that they'll get saved, preferably soon, but at least before they due [even if you pass on first]. Their salvation is what is important, eternity awaits. So pour into them, ministering, and leave the rest to God to work on them, bringing them to true understanding and them true salvation.

Here's specific helps for Gospel focused convos too.
* Have a real convo & call to Christ

Use headlines to start Gospel convos or plant Biblical truths in your kids, as you go sbout your day together. Here are examples to get you started, and thinking.

Remember, you can have these Christian moments and teaching times when your husband isnt home, & you're out and about with the kids, so he doesnt interfere [nor confuse your kids].

God bless
